DOOM. You know what it is, or at least you should. If you don’t, you’re probably a loser whose own family shuns you for being a lame soyboy. If you, however, are metal af and haven’t had your head buried in the sand the past two decades you know just what the ♥♥♥♥ DOOM is. Brutal, fast-paced, gory & challenging non-stop action. DOOM 1 was unleashed upon the world like a shotgun blast in 1993, and like a shotgun blast, blew people away. Never before had a video game been so insanely badass and gory. You played as the Doom Marine, the lone survivor of an invasion of demons from Hell. You fight your way through Phobos, Deimos, and ultimately Hell. Kicking the♥♥♥♥♥♥out of everything in your way, single-handedly, and are so tough that not even Hell can contain you. But, in the end, you realize the spawn of Hell have made their way to Earth, killing almost all of humanity, and worse yet, killing your pet rabbit. It’s time not only for revenge, but to annihilate this demonic threat once and for all and reclaim Earth for humanity. That’s where DOOM II begins. I won’t bother breaking down the basic gameplay because as I said previously, you should already know what DOOM is. Instead I’ll briefly talk about what is new in DOOM II and what ultimately makes it even more amazing than its prequel. Weapons:Well, I guess I should have said weapon, as there’s only one new one. But who cares, the weapons in DOOM were amazing and this new addition is so badass that there’s really nothing more you could ask for. This new weapon, the Super Shotgun, is a double-barreled, sawed-off, break-action shotgun. In contrast to the pump action shotgun from the original DOOM, it has a much wider spread and fires two shells instead of one (obviously) This makes it incredibly effective and satisfying for crowd control when you find yourself vastly outnumbered and surrounded. It can also be devastating against tougher enemies at very close range. Don’t think this makes the pump-action shotgun obsolete, however. Said shotgun is still vital when taking on single, weaker enemies, thus conserving ammo, and is also valuable at taking out enemies from a further distance. Monsters:DOOM II adds 10 new enemies, only 7 of which I’ll discuss to avoid spoilers.*Chaingunner* – These fat bastards are a pain in the♥♥♥♥♥ They can fire at you from seemingly any distance with almost pinpoint accuracy, and due to their chaingun you can get torn to shreds fairly quickly if you don’t deal with them quickly. Thankfully, they aren’t that tough. A single shotgun blast from the pump-action shotgun at close range is enough to blow them to pieces. *Hell Knight* – You remember the Barons of Hell from DOOM? Well, these are those. Only tan rather than pink. And Weaker. Its attack, however, is just as deadly as the Baron. Thankfully these can be dispatched rather quickly due to their lower health. I prefer to get up close and personal with the Super Shotgun when given the chance. *Revenant* – These tall, skinny skeleton bastards can be a nuisance, especially in large numbers. They fire homing missiles that will follow you around until you can get them to hit and detonate on something that hopefully isn’t you. If you get close to them they will try to play fisty-cuffs. Thankfully they can’t take pain all that well, so you can often stun lock them. I usually use the Super Shotgun at close range to take these ♥♥♥♥ers out, or for long distance I prefer the plasma rifle or rocket launcher. *Mancubus* – you know how I said the Chaingunners were fat? Well, wait till you get a look at these guys. These giant, ugly things have two massive rocket launchers for arms. Thankfully, unlike the Revenant, they aren’t homing missiles. They do, however, fire in rather quick succession. So watch yourself around these guys. They can be taken out with a few close range Super Shotgun Blasts, but most of the time it ain’t worth risking getting that close. Pump whatever you can into them until they die. *Arachnotron* – These are like tiny Spiderdemons. ‘cept these mutha ♥♥♥♥as aren’t hit scan, thank god. They fire some kind of plasma weapon, very quickly. And these freaky lil’ spider demons can be fast, so watch yourself. Use whatever means you have to take them out, but if possible, always provoke them into attacking other demons. They’ll almost always win, thus leaving you less work to be done after you finally defeat them.*Pain Elemental* – Remember how damn annoying Lost Souls were in DOOM? Well, someone at id Software had the brilliant idea to torture us with a giant, brown Cacodemon (with arms instead of horns) who literally fires lost souls out of its mouth. This makes taking these pumpkin lookin’ freaks out your number one priority in most engagements. You can stun lock them with the chain gun the same way you can with the Cacodemon, but just because you killed them don’t think the Lost Souls threat is over. These freaks often explode and spew out a couple Lost Souls upon death. *Arch-vile* – Probably the most aggravating enemy to encounter. These ♥♥♥♥s have the power not only to revive any dead demons around them, but they can cause you to burst into flames. These flames will blind you, and unless you break line of sight with them, eventually send you flying into the air, dealing an incredible amount of damage. These buggers can also withstand an incredible amount of damage. Use any means necessary to dispatch these evil bastards, and make them your number one priority in any engagement. So yeah, that’s DOOM II. 30 levels (plus 2 secret levels) of non-stop brutality. This is DOOM but on steroids. The maps are bigger, there’s more enemies, and it’s much more difficult. There’s even one level where you can get a Cyberdemon and a Spiderdemon to fight, which is as hardcore as it is hilarious to watch. Oh, and it features what is quite possibly the most badass song ever made for a video game (Shawns Got the Shotgun. Seriously, go listen to that right now on Youtube and try telling me it doesn’t make you want to go out and rip and tear or pump iron) Not really sure what else to say to be honest, just buy and play the damn game if you haven’t already.. ----------------------------Doom? What is it?----------------------------It's Doom. There is not much more to say about it.Timeless classic First Person Shooter with gameplay that aged like fine wine.Assuming that you did read store page description and/or other Steam reviews you should already know what Doom exactly is.If you didn't.....well, Google exist.Shame on you for being ignorant about your own video game history tho.-----------------------------------------------Why you should buy it on Steam/GOG but not play it through Steam/GOG?-----------------------------------------------You buy it on Steam/GOG to obtain WAD's in a legit way but you shouldn't play it on Steam/GOG simple because those are using DOSBOX emulator.Using DOS or playing games it is just way too clunky and limited, not to mention the fact that it doesn't support modern hardware or resolutions. Install your Doom games just so you can take away your WAD's files and slap them inside your Doom source port aka "Doom launchers".That's how you play Doom on PC in this day and age.-----------------------------------------------How to have ORIGINAL Doom experience?-----------------------------------------------Use Doom source port, aka "launcher", called "Chocolate Doom".It allows you to play Doom as original as it was in 1993 with all it's crispy sound effects, fart music, crusty graphics and almost zero player options. Just remember that "ORIGINAL" doesn't always mean "THE BEST". Especially in modern days.Download link here:https://www.chocolate-doom.org/wiki/index.php/Chocolate_Doom-----------------------------------------------How to have THE BEST Doom experience?-----------------------------------------------Use Doom source port, aka "launcher", called "GZDoom" which is an improved version of the best Doom source ports available called "ZDoom"."GZDoom" is being supported and updated still to this day and it's features are enhanced Doom's graphics, support for modern resolution and hardware and tons of additional customizable options such as more elaborated button config, mouse support and even a jump button. There is even way, way more in it and it's also very simple and easy to use. Also yes - GZDoom does support modding and all sorts custom WAD's plus other Doom based games such as Heretic or Hexen. How to play Doom with GZDoom:Step 1: Download GZDoomhttps://zdoom.org/indexStep 2: Put all your WAD's inside GZDoom main folderStep 3: Click "gzdoom" and select which WAD you want to play-----------------------------------------------What it is Brutal Doom?-----------------------------------------------Do you want to play "Doom 1+2 Remastered HD Super Turbo Forever Edition Deluxe Director's Cut"? Well, lucky you - Brutal Doom exist. Brutal Doom is a gameplay mod created in 2010 by Sergeant Mark IV and approved by John Romero himself and still being updated to this day but it's 99,9% finished. It's basically adds new gameplay features, enemies, bosses, weapons, animations and it is compatible with Doom, The Ultimate Doom, Doom II: Hell on Earth, Final Doom, TNT: Evilution, Plutonia and many other custom WAD's.More about it here:https://doom.fandom.com/wiki/Brutal_Doom15 minutes of Brutal Doom gameplay:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn2J4Loe57g-----------------------------------------------How to play Brutal Doom with GZDoom?-----------------------------------------------Step 1: Download ithttps://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doomStep 2: Put the main file (for example "bd21RC8.pk3")inside GZDoom folderStep 3: Create a shortcut to "gzdoom.exe" Step 4: Right click on the shortcut and select properties.
